Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama’s Tim Vine Calls on Chambers County Families to Vaccinate Against HPV

May 3, 2024

Chambers County has the highest rate of cervical cancer in Alabama. HPV vaccination safely and effectively prevents almost all cervical cancers.

Tim Vine – President and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama and LaFayette High School graduate – recorded this special message promoting a program organized by Valley and LaFayette High Schools to educate their communities on cervical cancer and cervical cancer prevention.

Mr. Vine calls on families of Valley and LaFayette High School students to sign consent forms allowing their children to receive this lifesaving vaccine during a special Action Day taking place on Wednesday, May 8th.

This program is coordinated by OPERATION WIPE OUT partners at the University of Alabama at Birmingham with support from the National Cancer Institute.

Alabama’s statewide action plan to end cervical cancer as a public health problem calls on all Alabamians to do their part to make this preventable cancer a disease of the past. We want to express our appreciation to Mr. Vine for his powerful message and his leadership.
