Partner Spotlight

In partnership with OPERATION WIPE OUT, UAB Medicine: Russell Medical Cancer Center is leading a coordinated, community-wide effort to eliminate cervical cancer in Alexander City and the Lake Martin region.

A diverse Advisory Council of local leaders (including government, education, and business) guides the initiative, while 12 trained Community Champions actively engage schools, churches, and organizations to promote prevention, early detection, and HPV vaccination.

Through school partnerships and state-level advocacy, the initiative also emphasizes access to comprehensive pediatric care (including HPV vaccination), advancing a shared commitment to a cancer-free community.

Alabama has a plan to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health threat by vaccinating against HPV and expanding access to cervical cancer screening and follow-up.

We can eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem in Alabama by:

vaccination
Vaccinating more children and adolescents against HPV
cervical-cancer
Screening more women for cervical cancer
followup
Ensuring that women who need follow-up can access services

We can save the lives of women across Alabama. And we need your help.
