New Public Service Announcements Highlight the Power of Cervical Cancer Prevention
OPERATION WIPE OUT is proud to introduce two new public service announcements created to inspire action, raise awareness, and reinforce a simple but powerful message: cervical cancer is one of the few cancers we have the ability to eliminate.
Developed in collaboration with The Production House, a course within the Department of Journalism and Creative Media at The University of Alabama, these videos use compelling storytelling to encourage individuals, families, and communities to take advantage of the lifesaving tools available today. Through the talents of University of Alabama students and faculty, these PSAs bring the importance of cervical cancer prevention to life in a meaningful and memorable way.
PSA #1: The Women We Love Don’t Have to Disappear
Every woman deserves the opportunity to live a healthy future. Viewers are reminded that cervical cancer prevention begins with informed action. Routine cervical cancer screening, HPV vaccination, and appropriate follow-up care have the power to detect problems early AND prevent cervical cancer before it starts. The message is simple: together we can protect the women we love.
PSA #2: We Have the Tools. Let’s Use Them.
Some of the greatest losses are the ones that could have been prevented. HPV vaccination and regular cervical cancer screening are proven, effective tools that can dramatically reduce the burden of cervical cancer for current and future generations. Prevention begins with action. By choosing vaccination, staying up to date with recommended screenings, and encouraging loved ones to do the same, we can move closer to a future where cervical cancer is eliminated.
A Shared Vision for Alabama
Together, these two PSAs reinforce an important truth: cervical cancer prevention is possible, and every person has a role to play.
Whether by scheduling a screening, talking with a healthcare provider about HPV vaccination, or sharing trusted information with family and friends, small actions today can make a lasting difference tomorrow.
